Introduction
The Dauntless line of Explorer Yachts are based on the proven high efficiency full displacement hull form created by Overing Yacht Design a recognized leader in this type of hull. The hull form allows the Dauntless line to cruise using very small amounts of fuel and increased speeds for a given RPM. This greatly reduces the overall operating cost of the vessel.
The design was created for worldwide travel and cruising in remote areas with little or no shore support for long periods of time.
The hull is very heavily built, constructed entirely of vinlester resin, fiberglass cloth and mat and the hull is solid laminate with no core.
The large volume created by the Overing design gives it the room to carry all of the equipment and supplies needed for world cruising.
The volume also allows all of the DAUNTLESS line of yachts to have a very unique feature. They have a full height deck forward below the normal lower accommodations deck. This area is accessed via a door and stairs. This deck contains a nice laundry area, extra refrigerators and freezers and a lot of dry goods storage.
Forward of the storage area is a pump room with the fresh water pumps, two water makers, water heaters and water filters. Note there is a third water heater for the crew area.
The exceptional flybridge layout not only has comfortable seating and all of the amenities you would expect but she also carries a larger then normal tender for a vessel of her size.
When compared against other vessels in their size range the Dauntless stands out as a long range, serious cruising yacht with exceptional features that few can match. |
Vessel Walkthrough
Starting on the aft deck there is a comfortable settee with seating for 8 to 10 people, on the forward bulkhead is a wet bar with sink, fridge and ice maker. On the stbd side there is access via a ladder to the aft crew area that also acts as the engine room emergency escape. To port are comfortable stairs leading to the boat deck. To port aft there are stairs to the swim platform and to stb aft is the passerelle. Off the swim platform is an over sized door into the crew area and engine room. Both this door and the engine room door are sized so all equipment may be removed through them.
The lazarrete holds a comfortable crews quarters for two with ensuite head on the stbd side, to port are large storage cabinets above and below, an over sized stainles s sink and additional storage. The whole Lazarrete is air conditioned.
On the port and stbd stern corners are raised areas with the warping windlass and bollards. Having the area raised makes it much easer to work the lines.
Forward is the main salon. This is where you first become fully aware of how the large 20.5' molded beam impacts the boat. The lounging area in the main saloon can easily accommodate 8 guests on the 8'4" couch and smaller 5'2' couch and two comfortable arm chairs.
Separating the lounge area from the dining area is a buffet with pop up TV and storage.
Next to port is the dining area with extensive storage and a table for 8 persons. Across from the dining table is a large buffet and wine cooler.
Next forward are stairs leading up or down, the stairs up lead to a spacious open and well equipped galley that is partly open to the wheelhouse.
The wheelhouse includes a full helm, helm char, raised settee with table, day head, stairs up to the flybridge and stairs leading down to the forward queen guest cabin with ensuite head.
The pilothouse windows have a defogger system and there are 5 window wipers.
The stairs down lead to the master stateroom and two other guest cabins.
This is also where the door and stairs to the forward storage/laundry and pump room are located.
The master stateroom is located aft and amidships in the most comfortable section of the vessel. Here again you get the full effect of the large beam. This is a king size bed, with draws under, a settee to stbd, extensive draws to port. On the forward bulkhead is an over sized hanging locker and to stb a TV entertainment center.
Aft separating the main part of the stateroom from the engine room bulkhead is a his and hers head with over sized central shower.
Forward of the master are two guest staterooms, to port is a fixed queen with draws under , an ensuite head with shower, hanging locker, drawers and TV.
To stb is a cabin with two lower full size single beds, check can be converted to a queen. As in the other stateroom there is an ensuite head with shower, hanging locker, drawers and TV.
